Holiday Inn owner IHG’s quarterly room revenue rises on China, Amers demand

Aug 11 (Reuters) – InterContinental ​Hotels Group (IHG.L), reported higher ‌second-quarter revenue per available room from a year ago ​on Tuesday, helped by ​solid demand among high-spending travellers ⁠and during the soccer ​World Cup.Demand for travel ​among affluent travellers has remained robust even as the conflict in ​the Middle East enters ​its sixth month, further buoyed by ‌the ⁠soccer World Cup matches held across the U.S., Canada and Mexico.The Holiday Inn-owner ​posted ​global ⁠revenue per available room growth of 4.1%, ​helped by an 4.8% ​increase ⁠in Americas and 3.1% rise in China revenues ⁠for ​the three months ​ended June.
