The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) successfully observed Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 from 1st to 15th July, 2026 with active participation from all its Divisions, Attached/Subordinate/Autonomous Organizations including Field Offices located across the country. The fortnight long Pakhwada focused on sanitation, strengthening cleanliness, workplace hygiene, record management, environmental sustainability, waste management and efficient office practices in line with the objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission.
During the fortnight, all the offices and field formations of the Ministry undertook a wide range of activities such as plantation drives, awareness campaigns, seminars, workshops, competitions, rallies, shramdaan and extensive community outreach programmes in Mohallas, schools and public places, Nukkad Nataks, Sea Beach cleaning drives, large scale public participation campaigns, waste-to-wealth initiatives and environmental conservation activities. Initiatives relating to reduction of single-use plastic, waste segregation, recycling and sustainable waste management were undertaken.
The Pakhwada concluded with the Prize Distribution Ceremony of Swachhata Pakhwada Awards–2026 under the chairmanship of the Secretary, MoSPI, wherein Secretary, MoSPI presented Mementos to the three top performing offices. The First, Second and Third Prize was awarded to the Field Operations Division (FOD), National Statistical Systems Training Academy (NSSTA) and Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) respectively, for their outstanding, exemplary and active participation in the Swachhata Pakhwada.
The Secretary, MoSPI appreciated the active participation and dedicated efforts of all officers and officials across the Ministry. He emphasised that cleanliness may not remain confined only to the Pakhwada but should become an integral part of the working culture and everyday life.
The Ministry reiterates its commitment towards institutionalizing cleanliness, promoting environmental responsibility and fostering a culture of public participation with the vision of a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable India.
