Mets’ Juan Soto (calf tightness) pulled in 1st inning vs. Giants

April 4 – New York Mets star outfielder Juan Soto was removed from Friday’s ​game at the San Francisco ‌Giants with right calf tightness.
After reaching on a single, Soto went first to ​third on a Bo Bichette ​single, appearing to grimace as he ⁠pulled up on third base. ​He remained in the game and ​was thrown out at home as part of a double play. Tyrone Taylor replaced ​him in left field.
Soto, 27, ​is in the second year of a record-breaking ‌15-year, $765 ⁠million contract he signed in December 2024. He’s hitting .354 with one homer and five RBIs in eight ​games this ​season ⁠after posting a .263 average with 43 home runs in ​his first season with the ​Mets.
Soto ⁠hasn’t been placed on the injured list since 2021. He’s never ⁠played ​less than 150 games ​in any of his six full seasons at ​the major league level.
