The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released the trial Index of Services Production (ISP) on 14.07.2026. The Index is compiled in respect of 19 sub-sectors using data of outward supplies from GST and other administrative data provided by source agencies on a monthly basis.
The trial ISPs are released with an intent to receive feedback on the methodological framework from stakeholders, academicians and researchers. The techniques / mechanisms deployed to test stability of trial ISPs include use of appropriate deflators and validation of trends of trial ISPs with other secondary data sources.
The ISP covers the formal sector of the economy. The Annual Survey of Incorporated Service Sector Enterprises (ASISSE) covers the Incorporated Services Sector. For measuring the unincorporated sector of the economy, the Ministry undertakes Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) and publishes quarterly and annual results.
