Oct 6 (Reuters) – Indian fashion retailer Trent’s (TREN.NS), shares jumped nearly 11% on Tuesday and were on course for their best day since August 2024, ‌after the Tata group company posted a 23% rise in second-quarter standalone revenue.

The company has been rapidly expanding its retail footprint, adding 250 stores across its Westside and Zudio formats in fiscal 2026 and a further 27 outlets in the quarter ended September 30.The expansion comes as Indian retailers contend with uneven urban demand and intensifying competition, even though discretionary spending in some segments has remained resilient.

Brokerages struck a bullish tone, with Goldman Sachs saying Trent’s revenue growth exceeded its estimates and that sales productivity improved sequentially.

Sales per ‌store fell 1.7% in the second quarter, compared with a 5.6% decline in the first quarter, the brokerage said.

Goldman Sachs said Trent’s second-quarter sales were strong given the late festive season in fiscal 2027, and raised its target price on the stock to 3,010 rupees from 2,960 rupees.Macquarie said momentum in same-store sales growth should improve in the second quarter from the first quarter, while Citi said revenue topped its expectations and that the decline in revenue per square foot was the slowest in five quarters.
