Galgotias University has come under scrutiny following controversy at a recent AI Summit, where questions were raised about the origin of a robot showcased at its pavilion. A video circulating on social media shows a university professor stating that the institution is working in line with the Prime Minister’s vision and mission.
Soon after, allegations surfaced online claiming that the robot displayed at the event had been purchased from China. The issue escalated further as social media users alleged that China had also reacted publicly to the matter. However, independent confirmation of such claims is yet to be established.
University Issues Clarification
In an official press release dated 18 February 2026, the university stated that one of its representatives at the pavilion was “not fully aware of the technical origins of the product” and spoke to the media without authorization.
The statement emphasized that there was no institutional intent to misrepresent the innovation and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic integrity, transparency, and responsible representation of its work. The administration also mentioned that, respecting the sentiments of the organizers, it had vacated the premises.
Debate Intensifies Online
Following the viral video and the official clarification, debate has intensified across social media platforms. While some critics accused the university of presenting imported technology under a broader national innovation narrative, others described the incident as a communication lapse rather than deliberate misrepresentation.
As of now, no official statement from any government authority regarding further action has been made public.
