WELFARE SCHEMES

Department of Social Justice and Empowerment launched the Pradhan Mantri – Dakshta Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi (PM-DAKSH) Scheme, a Central Sector Scheme, in the financial year 2020-21, for providing skill training to SCs, OBCs, EWSs, DNTs, Safai Karamcharis, including Waste Pickers through the empaneled training institutes. The details of skill training conducted under PM-DAKSH Scheme in the country, State-wise is placed at Annexure-I.

Under Sub-scheme ‘Central sector scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for welfare of Transgender Persons’ of Support for Marginalized Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise (SMILE) scheme, skill development training to 1,631 transgender persons has been provided through various Sectoral Skill Councils etc.No training for Sewer & Septic Tank Workers (SSWs) under National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) has been started.

The three Corporations under this Department, National Scheduled Castes Finance & Development Corporation (NSFDC), National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation (NBCFDC) and National Safai Karamcharis Finance & Development Corporation (NSKFDC), extends loan facilities and assistance to the eligible youth of target group in setting up their projects by way of project preparation, training and financial assistance for employability and entrepreneurship after pursuing the vocational education & training courses. After completion of the training under PM-DAKSH Scheme, the trained candidates are provided placement (wage/self) opportunities. As of now, 73,150 trainees have received employment after completion of training either in wage employment or self employment under PM-DAKSH Scheme.

Tthe National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) has been allotted the project to train 1800 transgender persons for 15 days Entrepreneurship Development Programme. Evaluation of these schemes is a part of the Scheme Guidelines.
